The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku, has reacted through a post on Facebook regarding recent claims that the party has been offered the position of President.
In her statement, she emphasized that such claims are untrue and purely speculative, dismissing them as inaccurate reports that do not reflect any real political negotiations or agreements. She underlined that the party considers it important to clarify misinformation and maintain transparency with the public.
“Regarding the recent reports, we clarify that the claims that the Democratic Party of Kosovo has been offered the position of President are untrue and speculative,” the statement reads.
She further revealed that on the same day, the party held a joint meeting of its Presidency and Parliamentary Group. During this meeting, it was decided that in the coming days the Steering Council will be convened to discuss current political developments in the country and to define the party’s next strategic steps.
The statement also included a direct appeal to the media, urging journalists and news outlets to rely only on official and verified sources of information, especially in a sensitive political climate where misinformation can easily spread.
Moreover, Çitaku stressed that the Democratic Party of Kosovo remains open to cooperation with other political actors and institutions. She added that the party is committed to providing accurate, timely, and transparent information on all matters of public interest, reinforcing its position as a responsible political entity.
The reaction comes amid ongoing political discussions and speculation in Kosovo regarding key state positions, including the presidency, highlighting the importance of clear communication and institutional accountability in the country’s political landscape.
