She was attacked by stray dogs in the courtyard of QKUK, this is the condition of the patient

A woman was attacked by stray dogs early this morning within the premises of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo.

The news was confirmed to Telegrafi by the QKUK spokesperson, Mirlinda Qyqalla, who stated that the incident occurred at around 08:00 a.m.

“We inform you that today, at approximately 8:00 in the morning, a woman was attacked by stray dogs inside the courtyard of QKUK,” she said.

According to her, medical teams reacted immediately after the incident, providing the victim with the necessary assistance.

“Immediately after the incident, the medical teams of the Emergency Center provided the necessary healthcare. Currently, the patient is under professional care at the Clinic of Plastic Surgery, and her condition is stable, according to doctors,” Qyqalla emphasized.

She added that QKUK had previously raised concerns about the presence of stray dogs near the institution with the responsible authorities.

“QKUK has addressed its concerns through official letters sent to the Municipality of Prishtina, requesting concrete measures for the treatment and management of stray dogs in this area. Despite the municipality’s efforts to remove them, the presence of stray dogs has not been completely eliminated,” she added.

This case brings renewed attention to the issue of safety in public spaces and highlights the urgent need for more effective and sustainable management of stray dogs in the capital.

Expanded context:

Incidents involving stray dogs have been a recurring concern in Prishtina, with citizens frequently reporting attacks or feeling unsafe in public areas, including near hospitals and schools. Such situations pose a particular risk in sensitive environments like medical centers, where patients, visitors, and staff expect a secure setting.

Experts often emphasize that addressing this issue requires a coordinated approach, including humane population control measures such as sterilization, vaccination programs, proper sheltering, and stricter enforcement of municipal regulations. Public awareness and community cooperation are also considered essential in preventing the abandonment of animals and reducing the number of stray dogs over time.

The latest incident is likely to increase pressure on local authorities to intensify their efforts and implement long-term solutions to ensure the safety of citizens while also addressing animal welfare concerns.
